Berlin has remained a key business-centric destination for Rhein-Neckar Air, as has Hamburg. However, the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has significantly impacted the way we work. While businesspeople used to hop on a flight to attend a meeting in another city, the health crisis has seen such discussions take place online instead.
As such, Rhein-Neckar Air suspended these routes until further notice last September, citing low demand levels. Sylt is an island in the far north of Germany, which enjoys seasonal air traffic from all over Germany and even as far afield as Switzerland. Rhein-Neckar Air flies there not only from Mannheim 3x weekly, minute flights , but also from Kassel 2x weekly, minute flights. The number of aircraft with which it does this is difficult to ascertain.
In any case, it is an interesting little carrier that will hopefully overcome the suspension of its Berlin and Hamburg routes by establishing a strong presence on its corridors from Mannheim and Kassel to Sylt. A keen amateur photographer, he also recently reached the milestone of flying his th sector as a passenger. Based in Norwich, UK. First, as a spouse of a soldier assigned over here you get what is known as dependent support fromt he muilitary if he registers as "accompanied" and has you placed on his orders.
That takes 5 minutes to do. Once that is done you don't need to register with the Germans and will be allowed to stay and leave as you please which you would not be able to do otherwise. This will also get you an ID card which you can't get otherwise.
The stateside ones are only good for the US. You have to get one for over here which requires him registering you. You also get SOFA status and several other benefits.
Essentially, don't show up here until he has you registered. Second, once you and your husband are registered as such he will be given a housing allowance and you both can live off base and the government pays the bill. This assumes your hubby is an E6 or above.
Due to base closure many of the commanders are being lenient and allowing waivers for those with lower ranks to live off base with family. The amount of money is higher and trust me, isn't going to go very far in the Heidelberg area for what you are used to. With the fluctuation of the Euro it also means the actual US dollar cost will swing all over for you. This doesn't even take into account utility costs.
Essentially you need to stop and get over to the military forum and explain the story so we can help you do this properly and you don't get thrown out of the country or end up broke. Thank you, I'm gonna add a more descriptive story in the military forum. Hope to hear from you there. Not necessary. I've moved your thread to the U. Good luck! Posted 9 Nov Shelby, I'm going to be honest with you and it might come off sounding mean, but it is just reality.
Marriage is either all-in or all-out. There isn't any room in the middle. This goes for marrying a soldier in a foreign land or just some guy back in the states regardless. My ex-wife wasn't all-in First and foremost, you've got to get your mind in order. If you're going to be married, especially to a soldier, life is going to get a LOT more difficult. It's a fact and it's not going away. There are a lot of people here giving you very good advice and you seem to keep looking for a way to do some sort of work-around.
My advice to you is that if you intend on getting married to this guy you need to accept that as the new reality and go with it. You have an amazing opportunity in front of you.
All you have to do is walk through a few "gates" along the way. In a few short years it will seem like mere seconds in the grand scheme of things. Jump into the deep end with both feet!!! Follow the advice of those who have gone before you.
All those details that seem so difficult and scary will actually be very easy. If you follow their advice all will go smoothly because they already figured out how NOT to do it.
