It will continue to work and all your programs will continue to work and everything will seem normal. This will leave your computer increasingly vulnerable over time as miscreants target XP users whose computers will become increasingly more vulnerable.
Using Windows XP past April will increase your exposure to security exploits and possibly put your personal information at risk. But Windows XP will continue to work and so will all your programs. What I want to know is when XP no longer gets updates will Microsoft have a disk that you can get with all the past updates?
Because if you would have to do a restore on your XP computer how would you do updates that had already been sent? I purchased an XP disk with update disk so I can stay here for some time! Both browsers will support XP, and continue to receive patches, beyond April. Outlook Express fans might want to consider the Mozilla Thunderbird email client or shifting all email to a Web-based service, such as Gmail or Microsoft's own Outlook. If an XP user doesn't already have a robust anti-virus software product, he or she should install one right away.
Free anti-virus software is fine, but paid is better. Most anti-virus software makers will support XP until Any home user with an XP machine should restructure user accounts so that only a seldom-used administrator account can install or modify software.
