It doesn't make any sense. Maybe he's had offers from other teams and that's why? I hope so. If this means he's moving to football I'm going to be sad.
He was very good. He will find another job and he will be darn good at it. I don't like Lewin, but there are definitely worse guys out there. And he definitely has excitement, which is nice. Grieve is the worse of the two, as well. Lewin's done some national broadcasts for FOX the last couple of years - I actually suspect this was more of Lewin wanting to try to break it on the big stage easier and less of the Rangers not wanting to bring him back. Though the last sentence in which Lewin is quoted does make it sound otherwise.
He was plenty big of a homer. Mabye it's because he announces for teams I don't like, but I've never really liked Lewin. Still, there are worse. He's no Steve Physioc or anything. Lewin walking Grieve through Sabes was always a hoot Try any of that shiit on NY broadcasts.
Argo Merchant cruise ship goes well. I actually suspect this was more of Lewin wanting to try to break it on the big stage easier and less of the Rangers not wanting to bring him back. I wonder if he was thinking about trying to break into the national scene on a permanent basis but told the Rangers he'd be willing to stay on if they paid him something closer to what he could get as a national guy and was turned down.
Plus, his fall job is being the radio voice of the San Diego Chargers, so for the last two months of the baseball season he was trying to juggle MLB on FOX regional action, Rangers, and Chargers and catch all the necessary flights. Maybe the Padres are interested in him eventually replacing Enberg, but that hopefully won't be for several years yet.
I've found his voice annoying, myself, but he's perfectly competent. I haven't heard him on baseball much--I didn't know he was into sabermetric stuff.
